Crowns & Bridges
Protect your weaker teeth and replace the missing ones with crown and bridge treatment
Nature has given us a full set of teeth for a reason. We do need them all. Teeth can be weakened over time by heavy wear and multiple fillings. In the worst case, they have to be removed due to fracture or infection. When this happens, at The Dentist at 70 Pitt Street, we have tools and skills to restore your mouth to its former glory. Whether we use implants for missing teeth or just need to cover and protect the weak teeth, we have a solution for every situation.
Crowns are like helmets for your teeth
Crowns or caps cover your teeth and protect them from fractures. They are essential for root canal filled teeth, heavily worn teeth or teeth with large fillings. Where a single tooth is missing and an implant is placed, a crown is attached to the implant and acts as a tooth replacement.
Bridge the gap between teeth or implants
If you have some missing teeth, we can replace the missing teeth with a bridge. A bridge is made out of three or more crowns, fused to each other in a subtle way, being supported by teeth or implants on either side. Even though crowns in a bridge are fused, they’re made to look like individual teeth.
What are crowns and bridges made of?
Crowns and bridges can be made out of ceramic, gold, or a combination of the two. At The Dentist, we use the latest ceramic materials, which are extremely tough. However, the old ‘gold tooth’ is as durable and tough as the new ceramic so, in some cases, gold may be the material of choice.
The Dentist at 70 Pitt Street only engages local laboratories that guarantee their work and produce all work on their premises here in Sydney.
Everybody and every tooth is different, we will need to assess you and go over the risks and limitations of all the options available to you. Once you understand your options you will be able to make the right choice for you. If you have questions let us know as the more you know the more control you will have over what you want to do. We encourage all our patients to seek a specialist opinion – we work alongside some of Sydney’s most skilled and caring specialists.
